There are four different Belgian Shepherd variations which are recognized by most kennel clubs. The Belgian Shepherds with long coats in any colour but black are described as Belgian Tervurens. The founding pair is believed to have been two longhaired sheepdogs owned by a Mr. Corbeel and a Mr. Donhieux. The breed was initially developed to become a working dog and Tervurens are well-known for their herding skills as well as their fantastic capacity for police work.
